Healing your pain & changing your life.
What is the Apollo Class IV Cold Laser?
Light. Amplificationby. Stimulated. Emissionof. Radiation.
Apollo Class IV Cold Laser is a therapeutic non-surgical low-level medical grade laser that is non-invasive and painless. The therapy is precise, accurate, safe, and effective. Non-addictive and free of side effects. Penetrates 2 to 5 inches into the muscle or injured area, with infrared light, to stimulate a new healing cycle.
What Does Cold Laser Therapy Do?
Low Level Laser Therapy works to stimulate the damaged muscles, ligaments, nerves, bones, joint and soft tissue to re-grow and heal injured cells and tissues. Patients will experience an increase in joint mobility accelerated wound healing, decreased inflammation and scar tissue formation.
The physical process of the laser’s design amplifies the photons, enabling a trained healthcare provider to use cold laser therapy to relieve pain, stimulate healing, or for a wide variety of other beneficial systemic effects. These effects include improved soft tissue healing, pain reduction, increased circulation and decreased swelling
How Does Cold Laser Therapy Work?
Low-level lasers supply energy to the body in the form of non-thermal photons of light. Light is transmitted through the skin’s layers (the dermis, epidermis and the subcutaneous tissue or tissue fat under the skin) at all wavelengths in the visible spectrum. When low level laser light waves penetrate deeply into the skin, they optimize the immune responses of our blood. This has both anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressive effects. It is proven that light transmitted to the blood in this way has a positive effect throughout the whole body, supplying vital oxygen and energy to every cell.
Can Laser Therapy be used in conjunction with other treatment?
While not uncommon for a patient’s treatment plan to consist solely of cold laser therapy, it’s generally used in conjunction with other treatments. Your chiropractor will walk you through your full treatment plan and explain if and how cold laser therapy will be used to help get you back to living a happy, healthy and more mobile life. Other forms of therapy used with Laser Therapy could include physical therapy, chiropractic adjustments, massage, shockwave therapy, active release technique, and even following surgery.
Are you the right candidate for Cold Laser Therapy?
The potential for new applications of cold laser therapy is virtually limitless. There is hope that it will someday be used to treat traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, and degenerative nervous system diseases. Researchers are studying its use in Alzheimer’s disease and Parkinson’s disease.

Regarding the Treatment:
-
What does a treatment feel like? There is little or no sensation during treatment. Occasionally one feels mild, soothing warmth or tingling. Areas of pain or inflammation may be sensitive briefly before pain reduction.
-
How long should it take? The typical treatment is 3 to 8 minutes, depending on the size of the area being treated.
-
How often should a patient be treated? Acute conditions may be treated daily, particularly if they are accompanied by significant pain. Most chronic problems respond better when treatments are received 2 to 3 times a week, tapering to once a week or once every other week, with improvement.
-
How many treatments will a patient need? This depends on the nature of the condition being treated. For some acute conditions 1 to 6 treatments may be sufficient. Those of a more chronic nature may require 10 to 15 (or more) treatments. Conditions such as severe arthritis may require ongoing periodic care to control pain.
-
How quickly will I feel results? The patient may feel improvement in their condition (usually pain reduction) after the very first treatment. , it is much more common to notice the changes several hours after treatment. Patients often report relief of pain and an increased range of motion soon after treatment, though more chronic and severe conditions will require several treatment sessions to produce noticeable results. This does not mean that nothing is happening. Each treatment is cumulative and results are often felt after 3 or 4 sessions.
-
Are there any side effects or other risks? Laser therapy has an amazingly safe track record. Occasionally pain can be slightly increased after a treatment -possibly due to an increase in localized blood flow or increased cellular activity.
